The South African Embassy in Bangkok has asked us to forward the following important information to you:

The DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS will no longer issue Temporary South African Passports as of 01 September 2014. Only an Emergency Travel Certificate (ECT) will be issued to an applicant under circumstances of emergency travel purposes, (e.g if a Passport is lost whilst abroad, if travelling to countries accepting ECT on emergency cases such as a family member in distress who needs immediate assistance or family members deceased).

found that out yesterday when i called homo affairs in wynberg, i dont see the value in renewing my SA passport as i am leaving for good, at least i can leave on my UK and SARS provided the tax clearance. soon the warm sand will be between the toes
