You can go out for a walking at the Nile corniche, visit the pyramids or the museum. Cairo is also full of malls, cinemas, clubs, cafes, etc.

Cairo and nature don't mix haha

There are many parks in Cairo like, The International park at Nasr City, Al-Azhar park, The Giza zoo, etc.

Re: Buddhism ... this was asked a while ago here. While most responses were from classic vacuum-heads, I think the OP found something (read her pictorial-essay elsewhere) ... Likely, a PM may elicit some response.

Unsure you will find full-blown Buddhists .. though, many of us practice meditation independently (.. or try to!). If you are already a few steps into it - ask, and I will gladly help you network with them.

Re: Vegan .. more power to you! The best bet: buy fresh food and cook. The restaurants would use chicken- and meat-stock to cook most all vegetarian menu - the idea is alien.
