Hi all,
I am a New Zelander living and studying in Australia. I am two years away from finishing a post-grad degree in dentistry and am seriously thinking about moving to somewhere in the UAE when I am finished. I will be moving with my partner, who is a civil engineer. We both are thinking Abu Dhabi or Dubai as we know a couple of people living there and these seem like the most expat-friendly cities in the UAE. I am very open to suggestions though so feel free to change my mind!
I am just wanting to get a general idea of the job market and how easy it is to find health-related jobs as an expat. I have been trying to do some research and I can't seem to find if there are any restrictions to do with the country you qualified in. As I will have qualified in Australia I am assuming that this would be a qualification accepted in the UAE. I am also wondering if it would be in my best interests to find a job through a recruitment agent or approach dental offices directly. Would it be beneficial to get onto this early (maybe in my final year)?
I know that there have been increases in living costs and employment opportunities for expats but I'm finding it a bit difficult to find up-to-date information on the web about making the move. With the recent changes in employment opportunities and living costs is it possible to still be able to save any significant amount of money? I am wanting to make the move to experience a different culture, be closer to family in Europe (anywhere is closer than New Zealand haha) and to be able set up some good savings for the future.
Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks!
