Salary in Angola - Luanda

[Moderated: Avoid Copy/Paste on the forum.]

#7   Seems they give you lots more work hours without any additional  salary
#8   Leave seems too little. Most places give leave on an annual basis, not every 2 years. If this is correct then you will have to stay for 2 years before getting leave.
#10  Contract period should be 12 months with the right of renewal.

Seems to me they are looking for cheap labor. If you accept this then you are locked in for 5 years with the threat of having to pay the company back if you choose to leave early.

I would not accept such a contract.

I am from Pakistan, recent Mechanical Engineering graduate
I have a job offer in Luanda, Angola from a multinational firm as a fresh engineer, they are offering me 3000$/month, accommodation + food (during office timings), 90/15 days rotation , 4 return tickets back to home.

Please let me know is this enough salary while living in Angola?I ll be moving alone, I am non drinker, non smoker and have a very simple life style, how much i can save at the end of month?

how much is it feasible for me?
what will be the expense of food/month , and if i manage to cook at my apartment ?

what will be the monthly expense for single person, living alone and with moderate life style/eating habits ?

Please give me some idea, i ll be moving here in January 2014

Hi,
3000$ is not enough for an family 2+2, but enough for an beginer.
We spend this amount for food only.

Mr Farhan,

If you prepare your own food then 200 us dollars per week is enough.

Thanks

hi all,

Guys,
I came to Angola recently. And as far as I know from my previuos expierences the salary will directly depends on country where are you from. In same position different nationality will be paid differently.
So then you have to ask first your homebrothers who are already in Angola, how expensive the life for them and then calculate your normal spendings and how much you want to save later.
Cheers!

Hi to all,

I am considering an offer from my company to work in Luanda, Angola/
The job will be Director of a company dealing with infrastructures (buildings).
I have Bsc. Mechanical engineering and Msc. Management of technology.
I am married an have 2 kids (3.5 and 0.5).
The problem it is very hard for me to understand what should i ask in my contract.
What about all local needs (internet, food, extras like gym, bars, weekend).
How much will i spend if accommodations, school, driver, health insurance will be included?
What should i ask roughly?
What is the best area to live in Luanda?
What about the kindergartens?

Will appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Also, can you suggest a good area for living?
What are the prices for other activities like gym theatre 🎭, movies and so...?
Thanks again

the salary site wan't too helpful.
the offer that i have today is roughly 10,000$ net
housing, education, car+driver, food, health insurance paid by company.

Is that enough for a company manager with Bsc mechanical engineer and Msc management of technology + 8 years of expirience?

thanks,
Y

hi i don't know if you have any contact in angola , i live here since 4 years and i worked here , i want to now to search for a new real job with high salary can you help me , thanks in advance.

Dear ygrinshpan, why you are asking if it's enough or not? As you mentioned everything is paid by company. So only you have to care it's your entertainment and your family of course. From that point, you have to ask yourself first, are you ok with salary offered or not...

From my expierence here, for me 2000 usd is ok for food and drinks, and some go outs on weekends... Sigarettes, spirits and other tiny staff are calculated also...-)

You can find here some company managers who are paid less than 3000usd and some engineers who are paid 15000usd per month. So it's only depends on you-)

Dear dobermann,
Thanks for your help.

Yes
10000USD is enough

Thanks
