Many local councils have an ethnic minority help service. It's called BBEM in Barnsley. A quick phone call to your local version may well provide answers and contacts.
Barnsley's lot are a really helpful bunch and able to put you in touch with loads of handy services and people.
They ask nothing in return by a bit of helping out never gets refused.

I suggest you pay a visit to the Islamic Centre situated on wharf street, Sevile Town Dewsbury. Inshallah you will meet a lot of Arabic speaking friends. This is a totally non political platform and people from all faiths are welcomed here.
