Hello!
I would strongly recommend staying in Fremantle while you're in Perth - The Sundancer Backpackers Resort is awesome.. It's cheaper than the city with friendlier people, and more things to do. Lots of markets and a great Arts scene! Go to Little Creatures Brewery for great food and a nice night out. Perth is a rather quiet city, but very pretty.
