Hi everyone,
I am currently in Niigata city till third week of june. I would like to visit some villages which still have original traditional Japanese houses. Could anyone recommend any village that I could reach by a day-trip from my base in Niigata city?
I would also appreciate if anyone could tell me any volunteer projects around Niigata that I could join while I am here.

hello ! If you are in Niigata , perhaps you can ride a train to go to Nagoya? There are also nice old temples or Kyoto is the best place for really old Temples. good luck and have a safe travel. Janiz

Terima kasih Janiz. I made a trip to ouchi-juku, Fukushima. A village line of traditional japanese houses with tatched roof though all the houses have turned to become shops and retaurants for visitors. I ve been told to visit Shirakawago too.
