Hello Julian & Everyone,
I am a new  member and I have just posted a '2 sides of the postcard' reply about living here,
Over 15 years ago I moved here. I live a little way from the coast -in a beautiful valley.
My home is a stone built  finca, which I share with my rescue cats.
My business is Weddings. I used to do a lot of planning and catering-
but as I am now somewhat more mature- I do less of that.-too many hrs on the feet.
I am a Registered Humanist Celebrant- so I  write and conduct non religious weddings,
funerals, baby naming etc.
Some friends and I started the first Women in Business Club here many years ago
( despite being told by the local Council that it would not be possible !)
It took some years to make legal but we did it. I was Vice President for a few years.
We did, and still do., a lot of fund raising to help the victims of Domestic violence of all Nationalities,
and support the local shelters,  liasing with Councils to help, and get the families back on their feet..
So -enough for now. always work to do.. and anxious Brides. .

Hi there Shaun
Thanks for your email. Yeah, I'm looking at Gibraltar for sure. To be honest, I'll go wherever the work is! If I haven't heard anything from the jobs I've applied for this past 2 weeks, then I'm coming over around 20th May for 2 weeks. I'll be working my way up from Gibraltar - Malaga - Alicante - Barcelona. I'm going to be staying in hostels along the way. If you have any advice or tips Shaun, then that would be very much appreciated.  Good luck with your job hunt too. Hopefully we'll both be lucky, fingers crossed. Cheers, Laura

Hi, my name is Heidi.  I know this sounds a bit weird but I have been fascinated with Spain for quite some time now.  I am an American am considering moving to Spain.  However, as I have never been there I think a visit is in order first to see if I would even like it.  I won't be doing anything until after my daughter graduates next year.

I am ready for a change in my life and If I do move to Spain, I'm not sure yet where.  Probably somewhere central or northern portion.  I am still doing research and making my plans so do not have a set date yet.  However, it will not be before May/June of next year.  It would just be my husband and me.

Heidi

Hi Everyone,

Thank for the warm welcome. I live in the USA and my family on my father's side is mexican and Spanish. I am a widow for about nine years now and have 2 children. My dream has always been to live in Spain. I would like to live in the mountains with a lake. A small town would be nice, so that the children can really experience Spain. I am also a devout Catholic so I need to be close to a church. Any recommendations?
Also I homeschool my children, so I can travel across Spain.  I do not want city life!

  Thank you!!

Good idea to visit.  Lots of things will depend on where in Spain you prefer.  Climate for one.  If you don't like summer temps over 35C (sorry can you  convert), then the North of Spain may be best.  The middle of Spain tends to have ave temps over 40C during the summer months and ave over 45C in the south.

The scenery varies a lot as well.  As you would expect the further south you are the yellower the scenery.  The north can be surprisingly green, with large tracts of pine trees which are protected here, as well as farm land.  Most of the Med. coast is paralleled by a string of mountains, so if you love mountains and the beach, it would not be worth looking too far inland.

If you are not country folks then perhaps one of the cities would be best, Barcelona is thought to be a lovely city, then there is Madrid which is also very cosmopolitan.  If you would prefer to go for a smaller city there are plenty to choose from.  I suggest you get a map out and base your search on climate, and size of city, town.  You don't say how long you will be able to visit to try it out, but perhaps four or five bases, over a four or five week stay minimum would be best.  The longer the better to know you wont have made a mistake when you come here permanently.

Also don't forget Spanish is often quite different from Mexican Spanish.  Good luck

Hi everyone. It looks like everybody is going to barcelona lol anyways i propose to make a facebool page group where everyone can stay in touch

Im new member here, Mike. Im Indonesian who interested to work as expat at a Thailand. A dynamic individual with a strong desire to learn and grow with the team, that is what I can offer. I am graduated with a degree in Business from UK with experience in Marketing and Finance. If you have any job in thailand, please do let me know. Thanks in advance :)

Hello! We moved to Spain 7 months ago and absolutely love it here. Compared to the UK the weather is wonderful and our new Spanish neighbours are terrific! We enjoy a much better quality of life here despite living on a small pension and wish that we had made the move years ago. We are making up for lost time by immersing ourselves in village life and learning Spanish. I hope you do make your move to Almeria, as I'm sure that you will enjoy living there. Any difficulties that you might have to overcome will be well worth it and the ups and downs are all part of the adventure and fun. Good luck with your plans. Lottie :D

Hi all in Alicante! Will be moving with my partner (who will be teaching at elians school -la nucia) in July, looking for a finca or country home nearby for long term let. Also for friends with similar interests in adventure and scenic activities I.e. scuba, sailing and bbq camping  :)
Also advise on vets and pet insurance etc

  Hello everyone! I was an expat in Spain and I will be again! I will move back to my lovely Cádiz in August , doing a doctorate program at the UCA. Now , for surviving there, I would like to work at a language school. My mothertongue is German and I've been studying English at the university, in combination with Psychology and Philosophy. It was a MA with teacher training . I got the official teaching license.
Now, my question is... how can I get into the "list" of the E.O.I.'s ? Do I need to apply directly at the Junta de Andalucía? If so, where? Or does anyone know languages schools (both English or German) that are looking for an experienced German/English teacher? Don't hesitate to contact me!

Hello

My name is Fabiola, I am originally from Colombia but I moved on May 2013 from Vancouver where I lived for 14 years. I am in Valencia with my 9 years old daughter.

It's been a tough time, I don't know why but adapting to a new city is not easy. After 12 months living in Spain I can finally say my life is easier and I am enjoying this new chapter. For a while I thought about going back to Canada but I had to let my daughter finish her 4th grade, during this time I had the opportunity to visit several cities. I had the option to live in South France but I decided to stay in Valencia for all the advantages this city offers.
I would love to meet some other expats and if possible find friends for my daughter , she really misses her play dates with her friends in Vancouver.

Hola todos,
My name's Luca and I'26.
I' m working in Gibraltar as a Service Engineer but living in La Linea.
I'm trying to learn spanish and, as an italian, is not so simple as they say.

That said,

¡Hasta Luego!

Hi everyone
I am from Taiwan, 24 years old.  I want to live in Spain someday. I am studying Spanish. I will be happy if anyone wants to talk to me :)
