Organize your move to Congo

Hi all,

we invite you to share your experience about moving to Congo.

Here is a list of questions which might help the ones preparing their move to Congo:

What would you bring and what would you leave behind?

Is it a good idea to bring furniture or domestic appliances?

Any foodstuffs that are banned in Congo?

Is it better to bring a car or to buy one once settled in Congo?

Any advice for the ones who are moving to Congo?

Thank you in advance for your participation :)

Pointe Noire its a very expensive city, a nice two bed house could be around 2.3 M CFR plus charges.

Definitely bring your furniture, you can expend around 7M CFR to get stuff fro one house, and quality not so good.

Food and utilities are expensive, and usually not good quality.

one more thing, when you are traveling out of the city, DONT take local currency out, the officials will take money from you, with out any particular reason.

Yes furniture is very expensive but it depends if you pay the cost of furniture or your company. If you pay the cost of the furniture then be aware that it will cost you more than 8 million CFA for a small house.
Best regards for all new expats.

Dear All,

Here are my personal views with experiences....................

What would you bring and what would you leave behind? Nothing you can bring apart from you use it in day to day life........like phone,laptop,clothes,.........etc

Is it a good idea to bring furniture or domestic appliances? Its not a good idea to bring furnitures because you can buy local made one in cheaper prices........but domestic appliances are also available and doesn't cost so high but if you have some latest one with more useful type you can carry it..........

Any foodstuffs that are banned in Congo? No foodstuffs are banned but drugs are not allowed.......

Is it better to bring a car or to buy one once settled in Congo? It is better to buy a car once you settled in congo but if you have some latest car then it is advisable to bring it and the day you leave you can sell it................

Any advice for the ones who are moving to Congo?Take necessary precaution in general you take to move anywhere.....
