Hi All,
I was born in Singapore to Expats and am currently living in Kuala Lumpur, but spending a lot of time in Indonesia where I plan to move to in a year or two with my family. I visit Singapore quite often for the shopping, food and just being in a nice clean and organized place which is very refreshing after visiting Indonesia and Malaysia. I also have a lot of family in Singapore.
I just read a BBC news article on my hand-phone this morning about Singaporeans being depressed and selfish. It was entitled "Life in Misery City". By selfish I mean that Singaporeans are programmed to think only about themselves and not to help others. At least this is what the news article says. They talked about pregnant ladies having to squat on the floor of trains in pain because nobody would give up a seat for them, and people who have fallen in drainage ditches and badly hurt themselves but were completely ignored by locals.
Fortunately I haven't been in such a situation myself. I mostly stay in the commercial areas when I visit and just tend to enjoy myself with my family with shopping and eating So, for Singaporeans and expats, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on this topic.
