Perhaps you can amend the code of conduct to reflect the ban on asking questions about political issues.
Perhaps I read the code of conduct section on opinions wrong.

Could you please just delete inappropriate posts, rather than leaving them for us to open and have to read your note, "Not available, read something else". This is such a pain in the neck.

Personal details, such as email addresses and phone numbers, should be deleted from public posts before they are posted on the site.

Basically this is what we do as in we removed inappropriate posts but here on this thread everyone is saying thank you and being grateful and no one actually posted any personal details so far..

You can't state,

and then delete a post if someone decides to post their information.

You gave us a choice, so let us have that choice. Anyone can have a public email address as well as a private email address. I have hundreds of email addresses. A few which are public.

If your intention is to treat us as irresponsible children then say so. Otherwise give us the freedom to control what PII we post.

I do respect the fact that the moderators are doing the job for free, taking time out of their lives to enforce the rules laid down possibility by someone else. For taking the time I thank them.
But the issue of PII only being allowed on a PM message kinda doesn't sit quite right by me either.
It's 2016 internet and its perils have been known to anyone with internet access,plus local media, etc, etc,etc...
Almost anyone that was barred by the local moderators, the police, from going into a slum in Calcutta or a favela in Rio,  because you wouldn' t be " safe there" , would think that it wasn't right.
Can the moderators understand that at least some folks will take the position that what the rules of conduct are saying is : " you are too stupid for your own good, so we will protect you from yourself "
And unless the forum has a magical screen that only allows "good folks" to send PM, all that blocking PMs in a public forum, actually achieves is to cut down the number of chances of something bad happening while the danger is fundamentally unchanged.

...which is the approximate point of risk management. "cuts down the 'chances' something 'bad' may happen, all the while the fundamental danger remains unchanged."

People seem to forget that email addresses aren't just collected by nasty people from forums and whatever, nasty people give out their contact details in order to snare victims.
A lot of genuine posters give out emails for valid reasons, but others do so for sex, money and general evil.
We've dumped pretty much every type of total git you can imagine, ranging from scammers pretending to be US army generals to men pretending to be women, probably with rape in mind.

These types are restricted to passing details by PM on this forum and the spam filter slows them down when they try that trick.

Dude, the site was set up as a place for expats to help each other, not a site for various pigs to groom victims.

You have no idea how many perverts we catch trying for a wide variety of well weird stuff, them and loads of scammers out to get your cash.
If you did, you'd support the rule as well.

I have no clue how many I've got so far this month, but it's a lot.
Seriously, the forum would be bogged down with fake job offers, people looking for prostitutes and businessmen with frozen bank accounts.

Having lived under a totalitarian regime with its own political police, which couldn't have been more aptly named, Police In Defense of the State. That has given me a knee jerk reaction to "Big Brother knows what is best for you".
I've respected the rules of the forum, period.
But  I do have my opinions also.
How about a viable alternative?
If a member posts PI, gets deleted but moderators could send a message in which the forum makes the person aware of the issues. The person once signing electronically that said person assumes all liability, that person could post his/hers PI.
A tad more work for moderators so they could get more moderators to deal with the extra workload.
Second viable alternative .... let's vote on the matter?

If I may make an analogous example,  I hate not being able to have a wine cooler while driving a convertible. I've never drove drunk in 63 years, I hardly drink, but because too many people drive drunk everyone else pays.
I would want to see the penalties from drunk driving go up ten fold, then maybe the rest of us could enjoy their one and only drink in months.
In other words to reduce one's world to the lowest common denominator, it stinks
