EPS Health Insurance in Colombia

Does anyone have EPS Health Insurance in Colombia?

I am trying to figure out if EPS for 50.000 pesos or so a month alone would be sufficient health insurance coverage in Medellín, without having to pay 300.000 per month for medicina prepagada.

How is your experience with your assigned doctor, specialists, dentists, labs, hospital emergencies, hospital outpatient procedures, wait times, good and bad?

Thanks

Too late for you I know... but to help others :)

Your contribution to EPS is non negotiable! you pay 2% of your declared income, so ensure it is sufficient to not raise eyebrows, then work out what you want to pay as your 2% and work out your declared income from there.

If you have your Visa and Cedula (or Contraseña), then you are supposed by law to register for EPS before looking at any other private insurance. EPS covers you, your wife and children, you do not make separate payments for each person.

I would like to know where (what is the name of the agency and city) do you apply for the EPS program and if the social security pension from USA is counted as income to determine the monthly cost. I read that a non Colombian pension is not governed by the law 100. Will the monthly contributions include the spouse?  Is there any limitation on age (65+)?Thanks

We use an agent that basically sets you up as an independent.  Yes, your SS benefit can be used to document your income.

Thank you for your reply. Now, which agency is the agent working for? I understand there is some companies like Sura, Café Salud, Sanitas who has agents. Are any of these organizations offering the EPS? Do they have any age limitation? How much those agents charge to process the enrollment?
