Thanks for proper info.

Thank you for the helpful information. Do you happen to know if there are any Buddhist temples or at least a Buddhist organization in Ghana. Seeing as it is not a country of even the smallest Buddhist minority I am sure it would be no where unless maybe in Accra due to the international atmosphere.

Thanks  for  the  info.

Hi  all, can you  help me is  45k  cedis per  year, a  good salary?

45K cedis or Ghana Cedis?? it should be Ghana Cedis. if its a CTC (including everything) then it's lil on lower side coz accommodation, insurance and education is bit expensive in Ghana. i also suggest you to ask for salary in USD coz Ghana cedis is highly volatile currency.

indians are not paid that much so as per indain standards its pretty good. i think usd2500 a month just for food n expense isnt a bad deal in any part of the world u sd go ahead........njoy n all the best

Thanks Viki1230in,

Can I ask how long you been in Ghana and How does your family find day to day living there?

Dear All,

I am Mahabadi, i also would like to know about Accra, Ghana expences.

can we have feedback from people living in accra about cost of living

I've written a travel/living guide to Ghana which includes 5 pages of updates (as of February 2010) costs on living and traveling in Ghana, although I targeted it at the budget side for those who like to get out and shop in markets, as well as supermarkets, with ranges for prices taking this into account.

Accra is, understandably, the most expensive place to live in Ghana. Kumasi is a close second. It's difficult to find a one room, bathroom and kitchen for less than US$400 a month.

You can find a decent expat style house for around US$1000 a month near Osu/Labone (or some people i know did anyway).

The other thing our guide provides, which is notoriously hard to find in Ghana, is a comprehensive list of clinics and hospitals in Accra, but also across the country, with contact names and numbers. We obtained the information through a friend at one of the bigger intl orgs. It's all under "Arriving" in our guide.

We also include transport timetables (with 5 options from Accra), to and from all the major cities in Ghana. As most living here now would know, you just can't get that info anywhere in Ghana. We did it on foot, the hard way, lots of sweat. So you now don't need to travel half way across Accra, find out there is no bus, go and stay somewhere the night, go back the next day. It's all in our guide.

Anyway, there's loads more. We're updating on a 6 month basis (but sending out incremental updates in the meantime). You get updates free for a year.

You can read more at ourblog listed here or at www.g-lish.org/ghanaguide.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Gayle.

Hey Guys,

Planning to come to ghana for living as expecting some offer for the same.
I am getting $600/ month + all accomodation + transportation and utility bills taken care off.
Please tell me if $ 600 is enough for living in ghana with family of 2 more person?
How is the atmosphere there? Is it safe or R thr any threats for us? Will I be able to live comfirtable life in $ 600 as I live here in Delhi?

Sandy ---I suggest not to accept this offer. 600USD a month is not at all a salary. Even locals in Ghana work for more! Minimum Salary (savings) in Ghana should not be less than 1200 USD. Also post company info you got offer from (may be in inbox). There are lots of companies are doing fraud & making expat work like a Donkey. Sending money to Home country is big issue here, employer MUST provide Salary certificate to send money.

Thank for your reply mulliving.
600 USD is only for local expenses with all accomodation + Transportation and texation bill taken care off. There is seperate portion of International sal saving which will be directly debited in my Indian account quarterly. company is not bogus, i knw that for sure. Also company will take care of all texation part. i dont hv to pay anything in Taxes at all.

My question is if USD600 (net without any tax) is enough for living gud life in Ghana or not? can you please help me with that?

Sandy. Give us full details. SALARY+600 USD local exp.+Free Acco + Utility paid + Child Edu + Car + Petrol. etc. What is SEPERATE PORTION?

Seprate portion is that I have to buy my groceries and any local expenses lk eating out and entertainment. Rest all like accomodation +Car +Petrol +maintainance+medical will be taken care by company

Hellow SANDY - You are going round & round. What is your salary? in total? 600USD? How much you will get after that?

Sir I will be getting USD 600 exactly in hand to met my local expenses. other part of salary has nothing to do with my local expenses so thr is no point discussing that one sir. i might be sounding a lil diff but To be clear, i will get USD600 to spend localy out of which I dont have to save anything.
$600 local expenses in cash and there are no expenses i hav to pay for accomodation +transport +Medical +utility bills.

Can you please tell me if thats enough
Hey can anyone answer my questions please?

Guys,
I  think  sandy is  saying his company  will pay his normal  salary in india but wile he is in Ghana the  company  will pay  for  everything apart from food and going out expenses.

$600 is  like  under 900 cedis just  for  food  is more than enuff for  family of  two.

The only Buddhist presence in Ghana seems to be the Japanese Nichiren form. They have a temple near Dansoman.

Hi everyone :)

@ rajeev.chavan:- You are off topic. You shall create a new discussion in the Ghana forum!

Hi everyone,

I got a job offer from Ghana as an expat with a pay of 7000 USD per month (All inclusive, Tax inclusive). Could you guys suggest if its a fair offer?
Also if you can give me a rough idea of living expenses per month (current approx rates) of two people family (with wife) like accomodation, transport, medical, visa fee, cell phone, internet etc?
Plus, more importantly what is the usuall tax ratio that is applied on pay? i-e how much tax would I have to pay from my salary?
Meaning, how much can I save out of everything per month?

Thanks you, have a nice day.
Best Regards.

Any mosques for Muslims in Acra?

Bufi, Kindly share with me if you get any reply for your questions.

There are a lot of mosques in Ghana as there is a large Muslim community. Perhaps you could research Ghana online to find out more about the country.

can anyone tell me the price of iodised salt in ghana in 1 kg consumer pack

hi, my husband got an offer in Ghana, i wan to know about the  security indian families get and about the cbse schools

There is no specific security for Indian families. Ghana is a relatively safe country and as long as you take the sort of precautions you would anywhere you will have no problems.
I don't understand your question about schools. There are a variety of international schools here and if you google schools in Ghana you will find out about them.

Pl tell me abt cost of living in tema  ghana

like electricity bill, e\water bill, doctor visit, etc  basic cost of food ( veg).

Water is cheap unless you have to buy a tanker full when there isn't a regular supply. Electricity depends on your usage. We usually spend over GhC 150 per month for a fairly large house with a minimum of 3 people for most of the time.
You will hopefully have medical insurance for your medical bills or visits to the doctor can prove to be quite expensive. Local food is not too expensive but anything imported is.
