Relocating from South Africa to Namibia - The whole process.

Hi,

I need someone with good knowledge of the immigration process of moving from South Africa to Namibia.

Thank You

Brandon

Hi Brandon,

A little information from my employer IBN Business & Immigration solutions on Namibia:

Namibia is short of skilled professionals in a variety of sectors.
There is currently shortages of Engineers required in mining and budding oil exploration industries as well as artisans expected to bring about their own employment for self and others. The lack of skilled local workers has become a regular complaint from industries.

IBN is specialized in Namibian immigration and can assist you with all sorts of visas, work visas / permits such as:
    Business visas
    Short term work visas
    Work permits

The process is:
1.    Business visa - No visas are required by SA passport holders for a stay of up to 90 days. Passengers are to be in possession of valid passport and sufficient funds to facilitate their stay. SA Temporary passports are not accepted for entry into Botswana. For those countries who are not visa exempt they need to apply for a visa. A minimum of 14 days are required to process this application.
2.    Short Term Work Visa – If you are travelling to Botswana to work for a short period or you are intending to apply for a work permit then this is the best visa to apply for. The application is submitted in Windhoek and it takes 10 – 14 days to be processed. Once it is approved we will email the applicants scanned copies of their visa for them to produce at the point of entry. The work visa is issued for 3 months at a time and are renewable.
3.    Work Permit – Application for the work permit must be done by the local provider because local authorities need to be approached. Work permits are issued for the duration of 2 years. The application is submitted in Windhoek and the process can take 3 – 6 months

Please Note: The documents required from the employer like Motivation letter, Deed of surety and Representation by prospective employer form should be signed by the Company in Namibia that is initially employing the applicant not by Labour Consultant.
If the employment is contract based, a confirmation letter from the company giving contract to the client needs to be submitted, otherwise the position will have to advertised.

(Moderated: Please register in the Namibia business directory)

Regards,
Hans
