CZECH to CANADA new members - kindly asking for your opinion:)

Finding a job in Canada can be difficult for someone with a university degree and much harder still for someone without university. In the top three destinations preferred by newcomers (Toronto, Montreal , Vancouver) you're probably not going to stand a chance, for sure.

The Province of Alberta is presently the area of fastest economic growth in all of Canada and leads in job creation. There are from everything I've heard more jobs available than there are people to fill them and that this goes for jobs right across the full spectrum, not just professions that would require a university degree.

You'll probably stand a better chance of being accepted for a Canadian visa if you have some kind of job to go to. I'd suggest that you look around online for something in either Edmonton or Calgary, who knows you might get lucky. Try www.monster.ca for your job search.

Visit the Citizenship and Immigrations Canada website and complete the online forms to see if you qualify for a visa. You can do that now, but probably better to do so if you should find a job offer.

We are originally from Czechoslovakia too (today Czech republic) and lived in Vancouver, but left the old country almost 30 years ago and the situation was different then. The "easiest" would be to have a job offer from a Canadian company, but that is a bit tricky because the company has to advertise a job position for a while to make sure that they cannot hire a Canadian for that. Other option would be to have somebody to sponsor your family. Usually the sponsors are relatives, but I've seen even friend's sponsorship.

I remember there was a Czech agency providing Babysitting services and bringing babysitters from Czech and Slovakia to Canada. Unfortunately I don't know the name. Try to look for it.

Thank you for detailed and valuable article from you:)

I looked at the Alberta Occupation program and it's very interesting. There is a good chance for me to get there as a Carpenter. Though it is not  an easy process to realise, at least it is a good feeling that something could be done!

My biggest challenge will be finding some employer who will be willing to hire me.

I will also continue searching for all other possible options for me and my family and we will see how it goes.
