I don't know how much Puerto Quito has changed in the last 10 years. It was a small town with dirt (mud) roads when I was there. There is a "Resort" there that is pretty cool especially if you have little kids. The "resort" was way off the main road. The cool thing was some of the cabins you could sleep in were tree houses. The place was empty and we could pick any cabin we wanted. It was OK but there was no electricity meaning no fans or a/c, and it was warm.
