Hi, I'm French, I have been living in Glasgow for quite a while and I pride myself to have a good knowledge of this city, which is really a great place to be in my opinion 
I am also very involved in the Glaswegian expats community. I do organize (free of charge!) regular expats-only nights out and visits to interesting landmarks of Glasgow.

Yes Glasgow city centre is pretty safe and has a great nightlife: lots of restaurants, pubs, wine bars and discotheques and most of all, it is a great city for live music.
