The best site and the most reliable to find a flat is s1homes.com . you can take a look at gumtree.com too, it is a kind of British craigslist.
There are also lots of ads that are displayed at news agents and grocery stores, specially in the west end, I found my flat this way.
Expect about £300 per month for a nice flatshare in the west end, £250 in the south side.
