Newbie looking for advice & recommendations

Hi, Am new to the forum and am looking forward to other members helping me out in my quest to get to know Ecuador. Planning a trip Sept to tour around and get a feel for the country. Retiring soon and am interested in what Ecuador has to offer.
Thanks

Hello dudlyjake.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask them.

Thank you,
Aurélie

I live in Manta right on the coast let me know if you need some help

Read some blogs, get a guide book and do some research on the areas you want to visit and would consider living and visiting. Then you can get in touch with some people on the ground snd get some info. But for now, Ecuador is really great and well worth the trip and then you can decide if it is the right place for you.  Here is how we made the move to Ecuador.

could u enlighten us as to the temperature..average high n low
is there a constant breeze? seems like a lovely place

Temps here in Quito can range from 55F to 80F depending on cloud cover and exact location in the city.  There is often a slight breeze.  It is common to experience all of these temperatures in one day.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback so far to my post. I'll have some more specific questions as time goes on. My wife and I will be arriving in Sept for aprox 15-18 days. We'll of course be landing in Quito and exploring the surrounding area before heading to the coast to check it out. We travel light and would probably be using the local buses unless we can hire a driver for a reasonable amount. Thanks in advance forum members for your input.

I was seriously considering Manta after reading a great article on it.  Then I read another horrible article on it and changed my mind.  It said there were low lifes everywhere that got in your face trying to bargain with you to buy their stuff and it is so bad that the police have to escort some tourists around town just so they don't get bullied by these low lifes.  It also said that most people in this city live in shacks... After reading that I wasn't so sure, but my husband seems to think it will be okay.

What do you think, living there?  Is it as bad as they are saying?

Thanks so much!

Judy
