Telephone sockets and dialling

Can anyone tell me please what sockets are used and what dialling system is most commonly used? (I.e. pulse or tone), thanks.
I ask because we have a couple of restored and modified vintage phones that we use in UK and would like to bring them to use, otherwise we will sell them.
Grazzi.

hmm interesting one - the english socket is used here and most phones have both tones and pulse - however many phones are broadband phones and have the the mini socket - I think its called an RJ11 plug.

these - especially with melita, plug into the modem for their system however easy line s have normal sockets on the wall.

Thanks Toon

We generally use BT sockets here but Melita use the RJ11 connection.  The converters for these two types are easily available from any decent ironmonger. For the dialing system we use tone, not pulse. The old dial phones will not work to dial out but they might work to answer calls.

Thanks all :-)

in telephone exchanges the all uses frequency shift keying modulation not phase shift modulation for phones
