Banking in Saudi Arabia

Can anyone recommend a good bank to use in the KSA?  What are the requirements to open an account as an expat? Thanks!

SABB (HSBC) is a good bank. actually according to the new rules, u just need ur ID (iqama) but some of the branches dont know of this so hope u get to a good branch.

Hi Shahab-

So, what were the old rules, in case I get a branch that isn't aware that you only need your iqama?

Thanks!

Yes, the sponsor letter and the iqama, which has your picture on it (I didn't need an additional pic at Al Rajhi).

Re: Banking in Saudi Arabia

I agree that SAAB (HSBC) is a good bank, so is Samba.

If you are going to be transferring money home, making payments, etc.  You might work this one backwards and see what banks in your country have corresponding banks in the KSA.

It makes transferring money cheaper and easier.

The only documentation you need is an Iqama.
