One of you will have to travel to where the other lives in order to get married. You can't get married 'long-distance' in any way. Here in Brazil church weddings aren't recognized by law it must be a Civil Marriage in the Cartório (Registry). Even to get married in a church here you must first be married in the Cartório.

If she travels to Pakistan to marry you there then you will have to register the marriage with the Brazilian Consulate in Islamabad and obtain a Marriage Certificate from the Consular Cartório. Only then can you apply for the Permanent Visa there.

If you come here to Brazil to get married you should have all the documents ready before leaving home, it takes up to 3 months even if they are ready when you arrive because you must first apply to the Cartório for permission to marry, wait for the marriage banns to be published in the Diário Oficial da União (a government gazette) and permission to be then granted.

There are a number of postings in the Brazil Forum regarding the documents required for marriage, so you just need to browse through and read them; and you can contact the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Islamabad for a full list of documents and requirements for visas.

1: is it important to get return ticket while applying for tourist visa? Actually I am going to get marry with my girlfriend.
2: I need birth certificate NoC for marriage, Character certificate Valid passport duly verified forging ministry and than Brazilian consulate, is n't it?
3: invitation letter (commitment) by Brazilian citizen,
this is only process or any thing else?

Yes, you will certainly require a return ticket (or at least a ticket to some other country for which you already have a visa or may enter without a visa), but definitely a ticket out of Brazil for a date on or before the expiry of the Tourist Visa stay. I recommend a ticket that can be changed for a fee since you could use it to go home for a vacation at some point.

You need the "long form" of your Birth Certificate, this is the one that gives the names and details of both your parents. This must be authenticated by your country's government (usually the Ministry of External Affairs) and also be LEGALIZED by the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Pakistan (Islamabad)

You will also need a Certificate of No Impediment to Marry, either a declaration from the government that you are single or in the case of a divorce you will need a Certificate of Divorce, also authenticated by your government and LEGALIZED by the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Pakistan.

Not for the marriage, but for the Permanent Visa process that will follow you also need a Certified Criminal Record Check (Police Conduct Certificate) which also must be LEGALIZED by the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Pakistan.

All of the above documents must also be translated into Portuguese by a notarized translator (tradutor juramentado) here in Brazil before being submitted.

An Invitation Letter is also needed and if you can't show bank statements or other documentation proving you have sufficient funds for the duration of your proposed stay on the Tourist Visa you will also need a Declaration of Financial Responsibilty from someone here who will guarantee to support you financially during that period of time.

All of the documents MUST have been issued within the previous SIX MONTHS or they will not be accepted, since they are no longer considered valid by Brazilian laws.

You should have ALL your documents ready before you leave Pakistan since you must first apply at the Cartório here for Permission to Marry and it can take up to two or three months for the marriage to actually take place.

In order to obtain a Tourist Visa (VITUR) you always will need a Letter of Invitation from someone here in Brazil.

You will either have to produce documents (usually bank statements) that prove you have the funds to support yourself during the permitted Tourist Visa stay (either 90 or 180 dats if extended) or you must have a Declaração de Respondibilidade Financeira, which is a guarantee from someone here in Brazil that they will take full responsiblity for your support and expenses during your stay.

What the Consulate will be looking for is a figure somewhere around 500 to 1000 Brazilian Reais per day depending on whether you stay with friends or in a hotel.

However, you should be aware that it is much more difficult for citizens of India and Pakistan to obtain visas for Brazil than it is for citizens of most other countries.

Well Shiva, if you've never worked and you're unemployed now you will probably never meet the financial requirements to get a visa. You've got to produce bank statements that show you have sufficient funds to support yourself for your entire stay in Brazil.

Then you'll also need somebody here to send you a Letter of Invitation. Do you know anybody in Brazil? If not you probably won't stand a chance.

I hope you could help me. IŽm a Colombian citizen and planning to live in Brazil or Chile sometime next year. I currently live in Europe with my partner and my question is:
As Colombia has a treaty with Brazil where I can live and work up to 2 years initially and then renew it and because my website get most of its visitors from Brazil, it makes sense to try out Brazil. IŽm married with a portuguese citizen here (same sex marriage) and of course he comes with me. Portugal doesnt have that waiver program, can he be entitled to live there as well with me as my spouse (my concern is specially because is a same sex marriage)?

Hello Diogo,

Same-sex marriages and stable unions are now treated equally in all aspects of immigration law in Brazil, so your partner will be included in any kind of visa you are able to obtain. I'm sorry I don't know anything about the special arrangements with other Mercosul countries regarding immigration. If you aren't able to find the information you need about that online then you will be able to get it from the Consulado-Geral do Brasil nearest you.

I have a different doubt.
I am married to a british citizen. We've got the permanent visa in the Consulate in England, but we do not intend to go to Brazil this year, will we have a problem if we go to Brazil only next year?
Someone told me we would have to go to Brazil within 3 months after receiving the visa otherwise we would lose it, is that true?

That is correct, once the visa is issued you must enter Brazil within 90 days of the issue date or it becomes invalid. The same is true with any kind of Brazilian visa. They all are clearly marked "Primeira entrada em 90 dias / First entry within 90 days"

I have a question.

Once I apply for Permanencia and receive my protocol, can I travel outside of Brazil and "successfully re-enter"? I know that we can travel upto 90 days outside Brazil after intimating PF. But my question is whether I will be able to clear immigration when I leave my own country? Won't they ask for a valid Visa? Will they recognize just the Brazilian protocol? What I know, for all international travels, Visa is the VALID document. So I can enter Brazil for sure with the protocol but can I LEAVE my own country (and its immigration) with just the protocol???

Also my Tourist Visa is expired now and I am married in Brazil, so for permanencia I need to pay the overstay fine.

I researched everywhere on internet but didn't find any answer to this. All I can see is that people say we can stay outside Brazil for 90 days but nothing about whether we will be able to leave own country with just the protocol and without a valid Visa?

The protocol for Permanência Definativa is superior to a tourist visa and will definitely allow you travel and re-enter Brazil for periods of up to 90 days. I would think that your country's immigrations authorities already know that. Actually it's not immigrations who wants to know when you're leaving your home country, it's the airline - since it is them that would have to bring you back home should entry be denied. They probably know too. I'm sure that both have dealt with this same situation many times.

Regarding paying a fine for overstay, I presume that you've not applied for the VIPER Permanent Visa yet. I'm not sure whether you will need to pay the fine or not. It might depend on several different factors. First did you marry before the visa stay expired? If so, then probably not. If you married after the visa expired then maybe yes you will have to pay. The fine is around R$8,25 per day with a 100 day cap, so the most you'd have to pay is around R$825.

Indian immigration doesnt allow to leave the country with protocol.And the Embassy of Brazil in Índia says that we will need to apply for brazilian visa again to enter Brazil even if we have the protocol for permanencia.This rule might be different for other countries

As far as registering the foreign marriage you take your Marriage Certificate and indentification of your bride and yourself to the Consulado-Geral do Brasil in Islamabad, pay the fee and they will register the marriage and issue a new Marriage Certificate from the Consular Cartório (Registry) that is valid in Brazil.

Yes I know you're getting married in Pakistan. Once you get married then you take the Marriage Certificate to the Consulado-Geral in Islamabad, with your identification (hers too) and register the marriage there. They will issue another Marriage Certificate that is the one that will be valid in Brazil. I don't know what the fee is, so you'll have to check with them first.

thanks so much, i want to get married by proxy too first,  so visa process starts already and also my girl friend will come to Pakistan in January, we will get married here too, as muslim get married, and also tell me my documents will be valied for how long, in my police clearance certificate 17 days left in its expiry date, should i make new one? or it will work, also i have the Birth certificate, issued by NADRA the organization which issue Identy card in Pakistan, it has no expiry period, should i have to make it new one? also tell me what is Power of attorney, for proxy marriage, i will be glad if you have its specimen i will save it and make for my self,

If you're talking about a Marriage by Proxy here in Brazil that can only be arranged with BOTH parties attending the Cartório here in person. It's intended for people who are here in Brazil (or were at the time the arrangements are made) but for whatever reason can't be present for the marriage cerimony.

Yes, you'll need a new Police Record check, and Birth Certificate. The police check must be within the valid period shown on the document at the time you submit it to the Consulado. Your Birth Certificate, must be the long form (one that shows your parents' names and their birthplaces) and it must have been issued within the 6 months prior to submission to the Consulado.

My girlfriend is a brazilian citizen and she have two baby's as my sponsor what document she need to provide to support my visa application after we got married and how much income (salaries) she need to support (me and her children)???
Because im worry about married her and after she will not be able to get a dependant visa for me as her husband

That's quite a subjective question which depends on where she lives, childrens ages, etc. Those are things they may look at, but I'd say if she can show an income of around R$3000 per month or more it would be considered. It all depends on the Federal Police.

She live in her grandmother house in rio de Janeiro the children are 3 and 1 years old ,and her income is R1500 a month.

I doubt that she will qualify to sponsor you with such a low income she would hardly be able to support herself and her two children. The Federal Police would see that right away.
