Re: Socials for oldies and newbies
Thanks Rozypearl
England was fun! And the sun even came out most days
Hope Alex was nice, Cairo was really warm on Friday!!
It didn't work out on Friday night but we'll try again this weekend
Any suggestions for when/where you'd like to go this time (anyone)?
Just testing the water, how would ppl feel about a social in Heliopolis (or thereabouts) some time? There's a few of us who travel from Heliopolis to Zamalek/Mohandeseen/Downtown all the time, it might be nice to have a break just once
Just a thought, I'd understand if it's too far for some to travel.

Mr hatahitos, hellooo!
can't believe I overlooked that the galabiyya party was this weekend!
I'll try to come but it depends on getting a lift as it's a long way from Cairo and i'm not sure what time I'll be free yet
thanks for the reminder though and I encourage everyone to go to the party!

Hi El,
How are you doing?
Is there any meeting planned this weekend?
I did read about the Galabaya party... but am not sure whether I will be able to make it there...
In case there is an other meet planned elsewhere (heliopolis would be great) do let me know

Hi,
there's a gig at the Mohandessin BCA clubhouse on Thursday which should be good fun. There is also a yacht party run by Cairo Expats which is a regular event on Fridays. Other than that I'm not sure - I think lots of people will go to the party this weekend, maybe next weekend we'll do something more local
.
Mr H, I live in Heliopolis so it seems like a lot of effort to go all the way to Giza for a lift... unless the venue is in that direction? I'm not really sure where it is!
As I said I'm not sure when I'll be free so I might miss the lifts...
but give me a couple of days and I'll know
thanks

You mean tomorrow?? nice enthusiasm but it's a bit last minute to organise paintballing
anyway it's sooo hot during the day now wouldn't it be unbearable?
I'm up for doing something during the day tomorrow if there are any takers
al Azhar park for an afternoon lunch? Or somewhere on the Nile?

Hey Guys,
I haven't been here for ages and it's amazing to see what all of you are doing with the 'get togethers'
I live in Heliopolis btw, so any lifts will be on me from now on to all those hello ppl
How about a felouka ride in the Nile this Saturday ? (seems like a short notice I know, but thought I'd give it a shot)
Anyone in?
Cheers..

hi Rozypearl
I'll organise something for next Thursday night so hopefully you can attend. Good luck with your exams until then!
Kryptonite, sorry I only just saw your message and I'm stuck at home today anyway, another time though. Why don't we arrange the felucca ride for next Friday afternoon, around 4pm? Does that suit you (& anyone else)? We can meet by the Grand Hyatt/Four Seasons hotels.

Re: Socials for oldies and newbies
Hi m.hamada
I try to organise events but I am not THE organiser
it's open to anyone who takes the initiative, and it should be a team effort. Thanks for your interest though
I don't know much about the paintball as I didn't get enough people confirming to arrange it before, but it's based in Rehab city
It seems like no-one else is interested in the felucca ride idea
which surprises me because it's a cheap, relaxing and fun way to spend a couple of hours in Cairo. Do our regulars even check this thread any more? Some feedback would be appreciated
If it's not working we can go back to having lots of separate topics for each event, I just thought this might be easier to manage.

Why would you wonder about that? Just look at the people I talk to on the forum, they're mostly Egyptian! I've always been clear that public events I organise are open to all
As for the next event, next Friday is the Korba festival (Heliopolis) - Is anyone interested in going? It's near my place so I'll be going anyway
we could meet at 2pm by korba Starbucks (put coordinates 30.092218,31.323239 into google maps).
Let me know if you can make it anyone

Hey Elain,
I have been checking the thread as frequent as I can. I do get a bit busy sometimes but I always try to keep checking every now and then. I couldn't join the feluca ride that was supposed to happen yesterday but If we organize it another time I'll definately come, as u said it's a cheap way to relax and spend two hours.
As for the Korba festival, I'd love to join. Maree wouldn't mind to come along either. We can also get Ian and Yasmin to come. I hope even more people tag along. It would be fun. Let's stay in contact and if i have more friends coming, I'll update u.
P.S. Thank u yes.
