Going out in Saitama

Hi there,

Which are your 10 favorite places to go out in Saitama?

Which places would you recommend to newcomers? (restaurants, pubs, discos, theaters, cinemas, concert halls...)

Thanks!

Re: Going out in Saitama

Looks like I am the only one in Saitama thus far, so here goes.
If you're looking to stay within Saitama, most people will try to go towards the Saitama City/Omiya/Urawa area.

I live in Koshigaya myself, and I can recommend some places to eat.  There is a great Indian restaurant called Shubakamana (スバカマナ) close to Koshigaya City Hall about a 7 minute walk from Koshigaya Station, also a great Thai restaurant called Chokdee that we usually go to in Kita-Koshigaya about 5 minutes from the station.  Both are authentic and run by their respective peoples.

For drinking, if you are looking for bars, you'll want to just get on a train out to Tokyo.  For izakaya, well this is Japan, so you can find them anywhere.  If you are going to Tokyo, the great thing about living in Koshigaya is that you can just take one train more or less.  The Tobu Isezaki Line that runs through Koshigaya, eventually turns into either the JR Hanzomon or Tokyo Metro Hibiya lines, which will basically take you most places.

Cheers!
