Do and don't in French Polynesia

Are you living in French Polynesia? We need you to share your experience of the local customs smile

Is it difficult to adjust to the local customs in French Polynesia?

Could you please share with us a list of the do's and don't's in French Polynesia?

Thanks!

Re: Do and don't in French Polynesia

hi i live here and im really surprised because you are the first person i see in the forums than is asking for the quiz of the question for living here: the people and their customs (habitudes). totally diferent of our europeen or american customs. too much alcohol and social problems in one big sector of the population. also the language, local people knows/speaks 0 of spanish and english and in most of the cases the french they speak or know is very limited. apart is the called "tahitian arab" that is a mix of french and tahitian with cuban accent. please no more... lastly another big problem relationed with la politique and with the protestant sectors is the racism
to whites (popaas). true is you can do a paradise life here (more now that the prices are going dows bc of the crysis) but eviting le more possible the contact with the maohi people specially with the families that drink. if you need more information conact directly to our association. wwe install people from all the world in polynesie. 00.689.319095/00.689.812686. asofenua[at]asiamail.com. assofenua.orgfree.com

Re: Do and don't in French Polynesia

Do stay humble, because Tahitians like to fight.
Do not exhibate your wealth, because they have stereotypes.
Try to speak and behave like them , so they will treat you like one of them.
Don't argue with them, just tell them they're right, so they leave you alone.
