Living in Isaan

I would describe it as being very quiet. And with very few people speaking English if you want to live outside the big cities. So first requisite to live there is speaking Thai or Laotian (Isaan). As for making friends, it depends very much where you live. I have plenty of friends in Mukdahan (Thais) but I do not know any foreigner. But well, did I mention I do not live there? I live in Bkk but go to Mukdahan quite often since my wife's family (mother) lives there. And I also have a "idle" house there for when I'll retire, if ever... 
And for the people who do not know Mukdahan, I guess the majority of people, a few pictures and pages about it.
