Re: Living in Montreal
I've lived here one year. I know the rest of Quebec quite well and have lived in another part of Quebec for four years. However, Montreal is different.
It is political.
I like the feeling of 'laisez faire'. I like the people who are kind and chatty. However, making friends is another question. I am used to having friends from different cultures. In Montreal, the cultures are segregated and each culture lives in it's own little conclave. This is hard for me as having travelled a lot and lived within other cultures, I miss the versatility and differences. So, the discrimination here upsets me. Also, there is the language problem. There are the French Canadians and the English Canadians and "never the twain shall meet" (quote). The French language spoken in Montreal is dissimilar to that spoken internationally which, in turn, creates a problem for French speaking visitors.
Living expenses are lower here than in other Canadian cities but the Government does hit you from time to time with 'cash grabs'. The City is quite run down and repairs don't seem to have a priority here. Landlords (and my Landlord's office manager has told me this) can do as they like. They ignore any laws which relate to them. This is, probably, because a handful of landlords appear to own most of the buildings and are extremely wealthy so feel they can 'thumb their noses" at the Government. Political correctness does not appear to have reached Montreal and one has to be a bit careful not to upset anyone.
There is a great lot of entertainment in Montreal and always something to go to or do. A lot of the time, these things are not expensive and one is never bored here. It is a picturesque City with the mountain in the centre and the two rivers north and south, also the islands. Winter sports are affordable by everyone and there is unlimited skiing, skating and other winter activities all winter long. In summer, there is an artificial beach on one of the islands with an artificial lake and the water is pumped in from the St. Lawrence river.
I love it here. I love the people. I just wish I could socialize with people from all the cultures.

Re: Living in Montreal
To Diouanemohamed
From what I see in Montreal, there are not many jobs and a lot of people are out of work due to the recession. There are always more jobs in Toronto which is the business city of Canada. I think you should search the Internet for the Canadian Embassy in your country as they will have information on everything you need to know in order to immigrate here.
When I spent time in Israel and then decided to go to Canada, I went to the Canadian Embassy there and they were excellent in telling me what I needed to know before I arrived here. Also, when I arrived at the airport in Canada, there were people from the Immigration department there to meet me to make sure I had enough money and a place to stay which I thought was amazing.
I have some friends from Lebanon who are coming here in the summer; a family with two small children. I put them in contact with the Council of the district they wanted to live in in Montreal and they told me that the Council was very very helpful.
So, do try the Internet for Government of Canada. If you find out where you want to live and it's in Montreal, look up the Council of that district and get in touch with them. They will help in your new locality.
Anything else, just email me.
