It is not easy at all compared to other places - people are very tightly knit here and, honestly, unless you're lucky enough to be going to school or working in an exceptionally friendly office, it is a challenging "market" to break in to social circles. Of course, everyone is different, but Boston is known for not being a very friendly city to strangers.
