How to make friends in Montreal

You cannot NOT make friends in Montreal.  However, it's easier to make friends with the French speaking people but you must be able to speak French and understand the French that is spoken in Quebec.  It does grow on you.

Visit the clubs, coffee houses on St. Denis and other places and talk to people; ask them questions about the City and things like that.  The clubs where the English speaking people go are on Crescent Street off Sherbrooke.  The multi-cultural clubs are on St. Denis and around there.

Take a course at one of the universities.
Do Volunteer work.
Join a sport.

Personally, I just talk to everyone when I go about my daily business.  The French speaking people are more fun and have a great sense of humour.  The English Canadians, I prefer not to comment on; I'm not too impressed but it's early days yet.  I've just been here one year.

There's ski clubs and ice skating groups, cross country skiing clubs, photography clubs; it goes on and on and on.

There's no way NOT to make friends in Montreal !!!!!!!!

If you have a special interest type it in as: (name of your special interest) Montreal.

The Musée des Beaux Arts on Sherbrooke has a lot of things going on.
There are hiking clubs, cross country ski clubs, card playing groups, volunteer work, courses at Mc Gill University which have outings and you all get to meet each other.  There's photography groups.  It's all on the 'Net.
