Also, you'll soon learn how whatsapp isn't that widespread in Poland.

Hello all! My name is Hayley and I am 23 years old from Wichita, Kansas. I will be traveling to Warsaw in about a month to spend one year as an au pair. Since I will be spending, in my opinion, a long period of time in Warsaw, I would love to make some good friends to explore the city with!

Lived in Warsaw for about 2 years as an expat. Happy to help if any one has any questions. :)

Hello,

Moving to warsaw in October  for a two-year masters program.

Is there anything I should be aware as I am starting to get things in order to live there for 2 years... any advice, outside of starting to study the language.

Cheers,

Hunter

Hello! My name is Sarah, I'm American, and I'm moving to Warsaw this summer to work as a teacher. I've been to Poland a few times, have some friends there, but would love to meet other expats, too. Looking forward to meeting some of you!

Hi Guys,

My name is Simon. I am an Italian expat living and working in London. I've been in the UK for about 11 years. My best friend is Polish and after a few trips to Poland I think I fell in love with the Country. We were thinking about moving to Krakow and start perhaps a new life there. I guess we are both slightly sick of London, though I still love it very much.

Guys I would really appreciate your opinions on the matter, I worked in customer service for a long time, I am a train manager for the underground here. But I had enough of it. I have a BA in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, and a MA in Interpreting and Translation.

Do you think I could possibly find anything in Krakow?

What about life there?

I don't know why for some odd reason I am super excited about the whole thing.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Thank you very much for reading and listening.

Regards,
Simon

Hello everybody I am considering a move to Poland...I have been to many cities Troj miasto area, poznan, wroclow, katowice, and Krakow. I was wondering if anybody knows of good approaches to taking in terms of looking for employment or what industries hire more foreign nationals in which cities for different occupations?

I am native English speaker and have web design and other creative tech skills along with hospitality/customer service and shipping/receiving skills.

Hi guys! I just returned to Poland after a year which I spent in NYC. It is hard for me to start my life in Warsaw again. That's why I need you guys. I need to make some friends. I love diversity- meeting peole from abroad. I still want to practice my English, spend some nice time in cafe, park, bar or whenever just to have good company to talk and have some fun!

Witam! :)

Hello everyone, I am coming to Warsaw to work for an international organisation - I do not know anyone! :-) I even have not visited the city before :-) hoping to find some people here to meet up, for coffee and a chat. I am coming from Vienna..

Looking forward to meet you all! :-)

My husband and I are planning to move to Poland. City hasn't been determined because I prefer to have my own plot of land and don't do well being squeezed into apartments. My husband came to the U.S. in 1980 from Poland. Since I work from home and the children are grown, this would be the best time to go.

Hi guys im Nash from kenya i live in Nairobi but will be coming to Poland probably in late august or early September for aupair programme. I will be staying in Katowice and  would appreciate any information about aupair life in poland or if there are any aupairs on this forum who might tell me their experiences, i hope to make friends and have a good time during my stay in Poland.

Hi everyone, my name is Michael and I moved with my family recently from Switzerland to Krakow but are originally from Germany. We have two small kids and would love to meet other expat families to share experiences, common activities and just to have a good time. If anybody is interested, send me a message. Looking forward!

Hey everyone! my name is Taryn and I am 18 years old. I will be moving to Warsaw around the 15th September with my boyfriend Tomek to learn Polish and get a part time job while i'm completing online studies. I am looking forward to experiencing more of the Polish culture and will be more than happy to meet people for a coffee and find out about their life and experience in Warsaw so far :)

Hi everyone and welcome on board  :)

@ Taryn, do not hesitate to read and participate on the threads in the Networking Warsaw section of the forum. You will surely get more interaction with members.

All the very best,
Bhavna

Hi Simon,
Interested in knowing how you are moving on with your plans...

Hello, my name is Adam, and I am an American looking for work as a Software Developer in Warsaw! I have never been to Poland, but I look forward to learning the language and its culture. I am a little nervous about the transition, but hope to find good friends to talk and/or explore with. I promise I won't bore you with bad programming jokes, unless you enjoy them, in that case I have them in an endless amount of supply. Feel free to contact me!

Good morning! or should I say Dzien dobry!  My husband, cocker spaniel Lucy and I moved to Gdansk six weeks ago yesterday. What a beautiful country!  My husband had a great opportunity with his company and we took a leap of faith and moved from Orange County California with out ever having been here. Crazy right... I would love to meet English speaking expats in the Gdansk area. I see most people on this site are living in other cities. If anyone is moving to Gdansk or knows English speaking expats in Gdansk area, I would love an introduction. This is our second overseas move, we lived in Bangalore India for over four years. I knew it would be quite different moving to Poland but must admit I was unprepared for the lack of expat support communities in this area  So guess we will just have to start one.
I teach both traditional and Christian yoga and am also a certified ESL teacher. Hoping once I get a bit more settled will be able to share both of these.
Would love to hear from others in this area, Make it a beautiful and blessed day
Deborah

hi!

hi everyone! Who help me improve may english skills?

Hi.

I am thinking to travel to Poland and wanted to see if I could meet people living there.  How are you?

Abby

Hi all,
This is Sandeep and I've just arrived in Krakow,Poland.
I'd love to visit places and make new friends.

Best Regards
Sandeep

Hi Sandeep.

Welcome to  Krakow.
I hope you like the city. From my experience, the beginnings abroad are very difficult. It is good therefore that you are reaching to make new friends. However, it would be good to write something about yourself to find "relevant" people e.g. you age. It is much easier to relate to people of approximately the same age, then a nearly anonymous post.

I wish you luck and a good time in Krakow.

Marzenna

Hi Marzenna,
Thanks for your response. I'm 28 and will be joining a Software firm in Krakow.

I've arrived yesterday evening. I'd love to learn Polish as I always fancy to learn new things and make new friends.

As you perfectly mentioned, I'm finding a bit of difficulty initially but that will get subdued after sometime I hope. :)

As I shall be working close to Czerwone Maki 84, could you kindly advise me a long-term rented place near to the workplace?

Best Regards,
Sandeep

o NIce;) When do you come to Warsaw and How lond do you stay here?

Hi Krzycho,
I'm presently in Krakow and will be staying for at least one year.
I'll come to warsaw next month for tour I believe.

Best Regards,
Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

My husband works for the Software company, so you both may have some common language to speak (lol) once he is in the country. He is working for Red Hat and unfortunately is travelling a lot...

Regarding learning Polish, I would urge you to start as soon as possible. All service industry (restaurants, hotels et cetera) employs people with very good English skills. Young polish people like you also speak English. However to integrate, you will need at least basic Polish. Steve (he is English) attended lessons in school called "Varia" and he is very complementary about this school. You can find them on internet and the school is in the center.

We both moved to Krakow only 2 years ago, so I do not have any solid information about many places to rent. However, I checked the address of your work and that position gives you two choices: country side (I wouldn't recommend, but it is only me, I like the city) and closeness to the center. I heard that Ruczaj area is good (Lot's of students) and if you can afford a bit more, Ludwinow area. Kazimierz area is very good. Lots of bars and a very popular with young people. A bit less pricey and adjacent to Kazimierz is Podgorze area. Generally south, south-west and west is nicer in my view and it will be closer to your work. You can find lots of information on web. The estate agents are there ready to show you lots of possibilities. Once you talk to some, let me know if you have some questions to what procedure of renting a place is.
One thing more about that, Krakow is small and have really good public transport, therefore you do not need to rent just next to your work.

Generally, go to Kazimierz in the evening, enjoy the bars like e.g. Alchemia on Plac Nowy street. From your work it is about 15min by a car and radio-taxis are cheap. Or go and enjoy what is happening on the Rynek Glowny. Try to have fun. It will get easier.

But first, call the language school. They helped my husband to enjoy Krakow as well as learning language.

Let me know how are you doing.

Greetings,
Marzenna

Hi Marzenna,
That was so informative and so nice of you. Yes, I shall enroll in the Polish course asap.
Just looking out for a rented place for the last couple of days. It's just a matter of time.
I'll keep you updated regularly. :)

Best Regards,
Sandeep

Hi Everyone,

I'm from Sydney, Aus. Living in Bolesławiec, Dolnoslaskie. Been in Poland for nearly 2 years now, with my Polish husband and our 3 boys. I'm 29, a little crazy, and I love to have fun.
Am lonely as hell as I have no one my own age who speaks English and with 3 little kids I've had no chance to learn much of the language. I can't even get my hands on someone to teach me anyway.

Hello Everybody,

I've just arrived to Krakow for work. I've been in Krakow twice before, liked the city and now I'm going to live here. So far I only know my colleagues and that's the reason why I joined Internations. I want to get to know new people with the same interest as myself, both on a social and business level.

I'm from Stockholm, Sweden and I work in finance. I work for a big international financial company who helps people plan for their pension, university fee planning and also regular lump sum investments. I know, sounds boring but it is very important indeed. The reason why I'm here is because that we are opening a new office here in Krakow and I'm the one responsible.

I like to network and to meet with new people. Wine and dine, exercise my body and mind. And off course learn more polish because now its not even “tak sobie”. Any recommendations on polish language courses?

Write me a line to say hi.

Sincerely,
Fredrick
