What are your plans for the upcoming holiday?

the upcoming 2nd-5th December is a four-day-holiday here in Oman.
Do you have any suggestion how to spend these days for joy?

Hi IRAQIinOMAN,

There is a lot one can do during these forthcoming National Day holidays.

Unfortunately, most can only be done by road as air tickets to key domestic and international destinations have already been sold out.

For instance, from Muscat to Salalah, there are 6 daily Oman Air flights - and all 6 are completely sold out. Same is the case with the Khasab flight. Sohar and Duqm flights might be available, but there is little to see in Duqm, and Sohar makes more sense to travel by road.

You can do a city tour of Muscat. Visit all the local touristy spots like the Muttrah Souq, the Grand Mosque, the many new malls, et al.

You could also do a day trip to the Al Sawadi Beach Resort, to chill. There is also the nice and award-winning Al Nahda Resort & Spa in Barka, where you can comfortably spend a day.

You could also visit some of the many local beaches in Muscat. Or drive out a little to places like the Yiti beach, or visit some Wadi which is a few hours drive away - like Wadi Shab, Wadi Bani Khalid, etc. And there is the Bimah Sinkhole too, just before Wadi Shab. Wadi Dayqah Dam is also a great place for a day's outing, which is along the same route.

Nizwa Fort and Souq, is yet another great place for a day's visit. Unfortunately, Al Hoota Caves is closed and is under renovation / maintenance currently. Else you could have gone there too !

If you like the mountains, you could drive up to Jebel Shams, or Jebel Akhtar. Camping under the starry skies - now when the climate has changed - would be wonderfully cold and nippy !

Oman / Muscat offers a lot to those who want to step outside and enjoy their time. Options are aplenty. You can pick and choose what you like, and what you want to enjoy !

Enjoy !!!
