Are you looking for a whole flat or a room in a shared apartment?
The best area for a single man I would say is Zamalek, but 2500 won't get you much there or in other good areas like Heliopolis or Maadi.
New Cairo is nice but far out from the centre and more family oriented.
The most important question is where are you working or studying? Long commutes in Cairo are awful so I would always rent close to my workplace.

U can get a not bad apartment in 6 October city with this price, yet it's about 30-45 minutes away from zamalek!
