Hi all,
I was wondering if someone knows If I could cash a UK check in Malta.It is a tax refubd and the check is from HMRC .
Anyone knows?

Yes in Valletta their is a forex cheque cashing place -just down from the palace

If you have a bank account over here you can pay it in there, but it can take a couple of weeks to clear.
I did it with my HMRC cheque last year.

Interesting to know, when I have had one I send to UK to my UK account then exchange it with forex service. What kind of rates do local banks give?

Western Union Business Solutions in Sliema, Il Piazzetta offer this service and i believe that this is instant, you will need to bring ID and Proof of address.

I go for convenience, getting to Sliema or Valletta is more trouble than going to the post box!! ;-)
If someone can tell me its a better rate, maybe ......... (1.3256/1.3288 now depending on method)
