Hello

I am a 25 year old female from England, relocating to Bangkok in the middle of January 2016 for two months (potentially longer). I will be working as a writer so my hours are pretty flexible. I would like to meet ex pats living there and go for dinners drinks ect and travel around at the weekends. I love to have fun and explore so anyone with a similar mindset would be great to meet :) I would also love any advice in relation to renting apartments. I was considering air B and B but if anyone has any better ideas or a room to rent please let me know :) thanks!

hi give me the details i want come there pl give me your suggestion and feed back r u in pattaya or bangkok

My name is Harold. I've found out to live and work in Thailand you are better off owning your own business. Now to do this and profit is very difficult. This system is set up for you to just barely scrape by. You must have 4 Thai workers for every 1 foreign worker. Ok I have studied this system and searched these cities. Used every dime and penny to find this loophole. Now I am looking for an expat to partner with my idea. I don't know how the replies work on this site. But reply if you want to know more

I've been to Thailand on holiday and fell in love with the country and its people . I'm wanting to go over in March to Khoi Samaui to have a look and then possibly retire there from June .. I need time away and to smell the roses after a stressful last eleven years ..

Hi Guys,

My name is Tomasz and I come from Poland.
I grew up in a small city on the South of Poland, then I moved to Krakow to study Computer Science on AGH. After that I moved to Warsaw for work, where I spent 4 year. Last year I moved to London for about 9 months, where I decided that I don't want to work for a big companies anymore.

I am looking for a perfect place for myself, this is the reason behind changing places from time to time, maybe its going to be Chiang Mai :).

I am a Software Engineer in a mobile area. My plan is to work on my own ideas while I am here in Chiang Mai.

Hello Ramesh. Welcome here in Thailand. My name is Ruby. Our company is in need of 10 more associates. So if you are interested just message me.

Hello Tomasz.. you said you dont like to work for a big company anymore. So will you consider if  one Big company will work for you this time?

I'm living in South Africa, I went to Thailand last year and fell in love with the country and its people . I'm considering retiring there next year in June but going over in March for a month. Would like to make contact with people living there to make my journey easier and more exciting

Hi Everyone

My name is Simon and I am now living in Phuket. I am an Australian, but have lived in Singapore, London, South Africa and the Cayman Islands.

My background is law and finance, and these days I specialise in Migration law, visas and Digital Marketing for business clients.

I have my own company here, and an office in Bangkok, but moved primarily to relax more and for the climate, culture, lifestyle and cuisine! Always looking to network, meet new friends and enjoy life.

Also love playing cricket, and our team always needs new players.

Happy to meet you all here!

Best wishes

Simon

Chiang Mai is one of the most amazing places to live and work in Thailand. It has none of the busy hustle bustle of Bangkok, people are chilled out and friendly and yet, it has everything you'd expect to find in a big city.

Greetings!

I'm Parth from India. I work at Montfort College in Chiang Mai as a voice teacher, and I also take a few English classes as I am TEFL trained. Apart from singing, I play the piano and Guitar and I'm also trying to get private students.
I've been here for the last 6 months, so I'm definitely not a newbie in Chiang Mai. I love that it's so easy to go out and make friends and that there are so many English speaking expats in the city. I already have a large network of foreign and local friends, so if any new arrivals want a quick way to socialize, let me know and you'll find a warm welcome here.
I also speak French, but I badly need practice.
I'm associated with various activity groups too, notably after finding a new hobby in the form of Latin dancing.
Hit me up for a drink and we'll exchange our stories. Cheers!

Pino777, you are right Thailand has lost it's interest for me, I only stay to safe money. I have been spending more than a week to get a Thai drivers license, now i must get health certifcate, then proof of residence, then back to take the test at the DMV.  Along the way I discovered you now have to notify Immungration every time you leave your house to visit another, village, providence, or city, even if just overnight, I if you don't do this, it is considered a Felony, and at the very least you will have to pay a fine, I already feel like I am living under house arrest just by living in this country. I would stay in Italy, don't ask for trouble, if you can help it. Good Luck to you.  Patrick

[large]Hi everyone!
My name is Aida from Spain. I am working as a teacher in Rangsit. I have been living in Thailand for a year. I have met many people and I've traveled a lot. It has been an amazing year.  I am doing a job I never thought I'd be doing. Im so happy i quit my never ending job in Mkt and i came here.
I love Thailand. I love my job with 3.5 months holidays, I love my thai students. I feel free here, I have spare time for me. I can go home or travel around Asia in Christmas, summer, October.. When I arrived Bkk I wanted to come back to London..everything seemed super chaotic. one week later I loved that!
i got an airplane ticket to come back home last week but i changed my mind.. I got a work permit for one year and I will be here longer.. The reasons I am here in Expat.com is because most of my friends have left and I would like to meet new people and find ways to make my life more exciting!! and now im interested in learning thai.. I think its important.. What a mess! I don't understand a word..just numbers. Sometimes they dont understand even when I say thank you in thai after one year here haha.. but its ok i will be fluent soon;-) is my new year resolution! :top:

I am considering a job at an international school outside of Bangkok.  Would like to know about a few things.
What's the deal with the military government and the recent coup?  Has this been an issue for any of you?  How might this affect me?
Smog/Pollution.  I will be about 20 km from Bangkok.  Tell me about the pollution please.
What do you like the most about Thailand?  The least?

Thanks so much!

Hello my name is Harold. Can I know any more information on these 10 people you need? I'm in Thailand now and in need of work. ** please let me know. Thank you for this consideration.

Thanks for the welcome, Julien. Just moved to Chiang Mai from Washington DC, after a brief stay in Pattaya with friends. Looking forward to building my network here in the artist, writing, vegan, holistic, LGBT communities, especially Thais who want to improve their English (besides being a published author, i'm TESL certified) in exchange for teaching me about Thai culture and language.

Surprised to find so many Caribbean foods prevalent here: pineapple, papaya, sweetsop, guava, roselle, chayote, pumpkin - making me right at home. Holla if you're black, from the US or Caribbean, ex-British colonial, Hakka, Taino,  queer - or happen to march to the beat of a different drummer.

Hi Nicola,
I am a retired Army officer from India. I love thailand and feel happy spending time there. I know at 66,things may not be in my favor but still I seek your advise as to what options I can have if I want to work for few hours in a day and meet people. Without any thing to do,it is hard to spend time. I am technical graduate but not keen to work long hours.

Hi Simon,

I moved to Bangkok around 4 months ago to take up a lecturing job at a local university. I saw your comment about looking for cricket players. I'm also looking for a cricket team to join. Do let me know if you are still looking for players or if you have any practice sessions coming up which I could attend.
