Working as a freelancer in Maldives

Can foreigners work as self-employed in Maldives?
Yes Foreigners can work as free lancers if they have valid work permit and company else its illegal by law
.

What are the formalities to work as a freelancer?
You must have to register your company and a valid working permit. on tourist visa you can not engage yourself to any type of employment paid or un paid unless got the approval from immigration dept.

What are the pros and cons of this status: social security, tax system, etc.?
Tax system in maldives is simple not much complex and about social security i do not have any idea.


How is the freelance market in Maldives?
Its good, mostly captured by youth from India and Srilanka. now a days some maldivian youth also involving in this trade and thats a good sign for a developing nation.
