Cost of living in Martinique

Hi everybody,

It would be very useful to talk about the cost of living in Martinique.

Don't forget to mention where in Martinique you are living.

How much does it cost to live in Martinique?

> accommodation prices

> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc ...)

> food prices(per month, how much does it cost you?)

> health prices (for those who need medical insurance)

> eduction prices (if you need to pay)

> energy prices (oil, electricity)

> common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone)

> prices of a good menu in a traditional restaurant

> prices of a beer and or a coffee in a regular pub

> price of the cinema

Do not hesitate to add items to this list!

Thanks in advance for your participation!!

Re: Cost of living in Martinique

Hello every one.
I live in Martinique and can answer to a few of your questions.
> accommodation prices.
as every where, it all depends on what you want, but clearly, much more money than you want to pay.
Martinique is an expensive little jewel...

> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc ...)
No tube here (LOL!), we have mini-buses that have no schedule, that go from Fort-de-France to any village and stop every two minutes to drop and pick up clients. they have fix rates that you will find inside of the bus, once you are in...
They start early, but stop early too.
No bus at night.

> food prices(per month, how much does it cost you?)
Again, depends on what you want to eat.
If you eat fish and local food, fruits and veggies, you'll do fine with your money.
If you want filet-mignon, cheese, strawberries, with the same money, you're going to slim down!

Best regards,
Myriam.
