i am an expat too but never tried to do any volunteer activity since i am very busy but i think you should try this places
takyat om Ali: they are a very big local organization that takes care of poor people, from feeding to clothing and many other activities
also you can try and through Jordanian organization to help the refugees in north of Jordan

Hello,
I've did some volunteer work with "JICA" association which is Japanese association. Mostly I was an interpreter for the major part, but they are involved in a lot of volunteer activities all over the kingdom. you might want to check them out.
