While living abroad, some expats wish to get involved in the local community life.

What organizations expats can turn to if they want to volunteer in Austria?

How to join a charitable institution, what are the steps?

Which causes have the greatest need for volunteers in Austria?

Hi! The biggest organisation in Austria who would take volunteers is the Red Cross/Rotes Kreuz, which runs a monopoly with the ambulance service in Austria. They do also have Samaritans/ die Samariten, as well as the Maltese Cross, and the Green Cross. Lots of local hospitals would also accept volunteers, some are being run by charities anyway. Depends which part of Austria you wish to live in, and what organisations are not too far away from you. Good luck, Rod
