Hi everyone,

Here are some information that might help about costs of living in Madagascar :

Accomodation : renting an acceptable house costs generally 700USD to 2.200 USD. The price depends on the area where the house is situated and the number of bedrooms. Expats in Antanarivo usually choose residential areas such as Ambatobe, Ivandry but the rent costs very expensive there.

[Moderated: please post in Housing section]

Otherwise, to find a house, you can also contact agencies but in this case, you will have to pay one month rent for their fees.

Transport :  Public bus is cheaper but not recommendable (not confortable and you may be victim of pickpocket). You can take a taxi : the transportation fees costs 1,8 to 5 USD per course.

Food : you can make a full caddy shop at supermakets for 200 USD to 300 USD for your weekly needs.

Education : it depends on the school : for american school, school fees rises up to 12.000 USD per year. For french shool, almost the same price.

Energy and water : Expect to pay 120 to 300 USD per month if you use water heater, air conditionner, bath, etc.

Hope these help you. For other information, please send me a private message.
