Work permit procedure

Dear Friends,
My employer was provided single entry visa, employer told this is enough for coming to Malaysia,after coming to Malaysia we applied for work permit or EP , after getting EP you do travel number of times to your home country. up to validity of work permit(2years).
this is true or any other procedure is there
please explain me.

Once you have the EP or similar it works as a multi-entry pass so you can exit and enter the country as required during the validity of the EP. You are liable to income tax in Malaysia from the moment you start work and get the pass. Salary has to be paid into a bank (so you need to open a bank account). Don't carry things into the country from overseas, which it sounds like you are being employed to do - you are likely to get into huge problems, which include tax avoidance or even worse.

how it calculate non resident period.
