There has been another home invasion, this time the husband was shot and killed. The wife and very elderly mother were tied up and the car was stolen. The area where the home is located is called River Ranch. There are 2 threads about this home invasion that occurred just last night.
Three weeks ago, a house in Boquete was burglarized and the family's 2 small dogs disappeared along with belongings and the car, which was later found in David. Ask yourself if Chiriquí is the right place to move with your beloved pets.

If this awful event happened in Miami it may not have been even remarked upon let alone made the news. That fact alone goes some distance to show what a remarkable thing this is in Boquete

Last Thursday night 6 different locations were robbed in one night. Hotel Ladera, a couple were followed home from a local restaurant robbed (even their Lexus was taken) they were new to Boquete`, a gas station, a home in Palmira, another home and another restaurant. ALL in one night! The 1st couple's robbery sounds a bit like it may be the same gang that shot and killed Joe then tied up his wife and elderly mother in law the week before. I lived in Boquete` for 4 years. I'm not just someone who doesn't know what is going on. BEWARE those who are considering moving there. Local ex pats are very reluctant to speak of these things to strangers so if you ask while you are on vacation don't expect an honest answer.
