Cambodia visa run

My current 3 month visa finishes in 2 weeks and rather than go to Manila or Bangkok and fly back  to renew (through visa on arrival letter which is never a problem) I thought i may try the 'Cambodia run'. I have been told that even though i am a UK citizen I do not need to go to Phnom Penh and just over the border at Moc bai is okay as the tour agency will give an invitation letter.

Everything i have seen on this site says one MUST go to PP and that the agencies either give false information or just do not know anything.

I was also told I could renew for 120 usd without leaving VN in 7 days. Again, the quotes are hugely contradictory with 'evisa' online quoting nearer 300 and must have passport for a whopping 15 days.

I am already bored of this whole thing and will just book a flight if no clear answer in a couple of days.

Thanks for all

Hey PHIL,
You should be able to get a 3mth single extension for $100 to $130 .  I'm quoted $105 here in Nha trang for my second extension.   Just shop around the agencies.    When we all "had to leave" when the rules changed the visa in PP was $105.   Then you've got to get there, $35 visa on bus , bus ticket and hotels on top.

My visa is up on 8/8/15.   I'm still considering whether to go somewhere for a short holiday or just pay the $105 and stick around.   After all , I came here to travel, so moving around doesn't worry me.  The Moc Bai border deal has had some issues.  The clowns at the border can play games with you, knowing that PP is the only option on the table if you don't sling them a bit extra.  So there goes your money on the approval letter.

Personally, if your thinking of going to the border, why not go all the way to PP. or Snooky. ,the new bridge is in , so no more boat bullshit.  It's a smoother run now and the food and beer in PP is better .   There are also some interesting night spots as well😄😄.    Sometimes a breaks good.

Hi Phil,

I'm new to this and still finding my way around. Will be going to Vietnam for a year in September, so am watching with interest.

I found this - maybe useful to you

Cheers Mr Yogi for your advice. It seems to compare with what I have been told so will have to think. PP sounds quite cool place to visit for a day or two. I heard the procedure at the VN embassy is relatively straight forward and can pay more to get the visa quickly.

Hi,

I assume you have a 5-year visa exemption. If you want to get a new stamp on your passport to refresh another 120 days, you can go to Moc Bai, a Vietnamese border town that is about 1.5-hour bus ride from the Ben Thanh market. The bus fare may be around $VN 100,000. On the Cambodia side, there are a few Las-Vegas-type casinos if you want to hang around for a few hours.

Officers decide what they want. Sometimes they will allow this or even stamp without a border run)

I got one extension here before getting a 2 year work permit a few months back and understand that the rules have changed recently and you cannot extend while in the country. Unfortunately if you ask 10 people you will get 10 answers. Check out Vietjet ZERO costs fares to several countries which is active now.....this may be a good alternative. Cheers.
