Hi James,
My son will absolutely have a fit if he can't bring his Playstation along from the US to Rio. I've done some research and can't really get a definite answer. Do you know if it will work in Rio? If anyone has experienced trying to get it to work and adapt to the system in Rio, please let me know.

Yes, it will work just fine. He should bring it packed in his luggage or as excess baggage. Just remember that it is not going to have the INMETRO approval and if at some point in the future it shorted out and caused a fire, you would be civilly liable for any damages caused, including to third parties.

It'll work. As James said, there's always a risk that comes with it...fires or frying the playstation.
There's also a small risk of the Federal Police wanting you to pay an import tax on the way in. This probably won't happen since it's a used item (I'm assuming), but they've done it to people before.
