Living in copenhagen

My husband is visiting Denmark (Copenhagen )next month and I needed some information. It would be great if someone can help us with the required information. My husband is coming to Denmark on work visa and his organization is going to pay him 4000 euros during his stay. Me and my son will also accompany him. I heard Denmark has very high taxes. I wanted to know, how much would he get in hand after tax deduction if he is paid 4000 euros. His duration of stay will be for 6 months only. Also, can someone give me some idea on
how much do we have to spend for accommodation per month?
Do we get houses completely furnished?
Food expenses for 2 adults and a kid per month, if we cook at home?
Travel expenses?
Any other expenses?

Hello there chandsun  :)

Welcome to expat-blog!

You may browse through the discussion topics of the Cost of living in Copenhagen section of the forum so as to gather a maximum infos.

All the best,

I just wonder why your husband's firm have not helped you with that kind of information.

The taxes in Denmark is high, but we get value for money. You have to pay tax while here, but don't worry. You will be able to survive. :-)  The system, however, is complicated so I would ask Skat.

Regarding the household expences, it is very different what people use, but 4.000 DKK is not unrealistic.

Apartments are always unfurnished here, not as in London where the opposite is most common. To get a furnished apartment here, the only way is to sublease. You could try boligportalen.dk. I have searched here for 2 rooms, sublease, and Copenhagen and got this result (just to give you an impression of the possibilities):

I would not advice you to pay for an apartment without having seen it. Again, don't you get any help from your husband's firm?

If the firm is not located in central Copenhagen, I wouldn't look for accomodation in Copenhagen.

Best luck. Hope you will enjoy your stay here.
