How would you define the level of safety in the country?
Can you walk safely during the day and at night without any fear?

i can only speak of my town jelgava, which I find to be very safe. I imagine it's a different story in some of the estates in Riga etc. it can be daunting at first for we generally associate estates/sky rises here in the UK as being no go areas at night. But here in Latvia it's different. It's one of the main reasons I wanted my child to be raised in Latvia. You don't get big gangs of kids maurading around, drunk and up to no good, as you do on some estates in the UK. In fact the only gangs I saw, were working out in the park! But again I can only speak of Jelgava. As I said, it was a huge motivational factor for moving over, I was nightly impressed.
