Bringing a Car from UK to Malta

Terry, thankyou so much, exactly what I was after

Hi ALL,
I will come to Malta (from Cyprus) with working contract.
It worth to bring a Peugeot 206 from 2003?
Do you have any info related insurance cost?
Do you know a local company who provide services for car registration?
Thank you.

No, sell it and get one in Malta if you need too.

If you do bring it this link tells you the cost and paperwork required...

For insurance quotes just ask any Maltese insurance company online (a quick search will find 5 or 6 that do online quotes).

Hi

Would be grateful for details of the insurance broker that was Ok to insure a UK plated car with a UK MOT.

My MOT is about to expire in the UK so not sure if I need to renew it and go straight for VRT in Malta - any advice ? If I have 11 or 12 months left on my MOT when I arrive in Malta, do I need a VRT or can I wait until MOT expires ?

Also -were there any surprise charges at the docks when you collected the car ? I may need to leave it at the docks for few days after it arrives

AFAIK Middlesea can insure your car with UK plate and UK MOT but I think that the insurance is only valid if you register the car in Malta not later than 6 months from the beginning of the insurance.

I am bringing my UK car over in April, i have owned it for 8 years.
What will be the costs when i arrive in Malta?

I am sure if you read the posts above you will find the link to your question. As you are new on here may I suggest you read the relevant topic posts? There is a plethora of good information here but you need to read through it., then apply it to your particular case. With such a general question it is difficult for anyone to answer.

If you are applying for the exemption from paying import duty then this link explains what you need to do....

They charge an admin fee plus the cost of tax for the year depending on the cc, emissions, year.
Then pay for new plates, VRT and the cost will be around €200.
don't forget you will need a JVEC odometer verification before registration.....
