Importing my car

I'm wondering if someone on here can help me because there is so much different information on this I am never sure what's right and what isn't.

I'm looking to import my car from the uk to Malta but was quite worried about paying the import tax on it.
I've since read that if you have owned the car for more than 2 years and it's been outside Malta for 2 years then you could be exempt from said tax.

Does anyone If this is correct and if so now I would go around doing this ?  And also does anyone know what documents they require as proof of these things ?

Any help that someone could give would be much appreciated

Thanks

I am going the process this week.  Best site is Transport Malta - Registering and  Licensing a motor vehicle.  Covers import from uk.

You need to prove that you have owned the car for more than 2 years outside of Malta.
The V5 proves the ownership and the ferry ticket proves the import date.
You will also need to show proof of residency outside of Malta for at least two years before applying for the exemption.
This will be electric bills, bank statements etc outside of Malta prior to your application for exemption.
