I thought you should know - Creator of pink plastic lawn flamingo dies

In the event you are far away in south America and removed from US news that really does matter, this event should not go unnoticed -

Don Featherstone, creator of the pink plastic lawn flamingo dies age 79

Don Featherstone was a classically trained painter, a talented sculptor and artist who became famous for creating the pink plastic lawn flamingo

Featherstone, who studied art at the Worcester Art Museum, created the ornamental flamingo in 1957 for plastics company Union Products Inc., of Leominster, modeling it after photos of the birds he saw in National Geographic.

Featherstone worked at Union for 43 years, inventing hundreds of products in that time and rising to the position of president before his retirement in 1999.

Just a little bit more of the America we once knew, gone....

The inventor of the personal computer, Henry Edward Roberts, is no longer with us either.

The American engineer, entrepreneur and medical doctor (1941-2010) invented the Altair 8800 computer kit in 1975.  Soon orders were flooding in for the $397 kit.

Roberts retired to Georgia where he was a doctor in his later years.

Patrick Macnee, the man who preferred a brolly to a gun, died today.
Better known as John Steed, he was the perfect English gentleman in the extremely popular British TV series, The Avengers.
A Savile row suit, a swordstick  brolly and impeccable manners only an English gentleman could achieve, made this show a real winner (Emma Peels body helped a little).

Thanks for supplying the photo, Fred.

McNee was 93.

The bowler-hatted Steed unflinchingly demonstrated he could treat a woman as an equal.

The show was syndicated in the U.S. starting in the 70s and 80s.

Emma Peel, aka actress Diana Rigg (b, 1938) lives!
