Hi everyone I'm new in Kuwait my husband been out here three years , I and my daughter who 19 would like to know is there any places where you can meet expats ,We are English come from Liverpool in England , My daughter is looking to make new friends thankyou

Which part do you live in here?

Mahboula my husband has lived out here for three years and we have decided to move out here to be with him ,my daughter is 19 and is looking for some friends to x

Looking for friends in Kuwait?
- Meetup.com
- Internations.org
- Facebook expat groups

You can follow the activities going on in Kuwait (not so many in the summer though) and make friends on the go:
- CEEKuwait (Instagram)
- ahmadimusicgroup.com (website)
- DAI_Kuwait (Instagram)

And of course you can always keep track of what's going on on this blog since it's very active and informative (if you filter out the "salary" questions) ;)

Good luck

Hello all :)

@dannyamy1 : please note that a new thread has been created as from your post and responses received on the Kuwait Forum since you were off topic on the initial thread you participated.

apologies for being the cynical one here; but if your daughter is 19, why are you out trying to find friends for her? you cannot set up a play date for a 19 year old. given that she is 19, she will either be in a) school or b) university which will either be a) here or b) abroad. im guessing its the latter latter, but in any case, depending on her interests im sure she will be able to get along well, but if shes only here for a short period then there may be no point in forming "deep friendships".

this line you used however sounds,, wrong - punctuation and insinuation, please change it.

Thank you x

I do understand where you're coming from, legacy, but I do understand how hard it could get for an expat coming from the U.S. and trying to make new friends here. I'm 21 years old and even though I'm studying at the American University of Kuwait and I still don't feel like I got actual friends. Things are different here in Kuwait and people who were born, grown up, or raised in western worlds won't find it easy to develop friendships and live an optimum life here. As for you Mrs. Danny, I honestly feel for your daughter. I've been through the same thing and it's not easy at all.

i get where you are coming from TKS but i think that is a generalization that doesnt really reflect as true for everyone; all you need to do is go about the same procedures you would in the west but with an eastern guideline, like the lined paper we'd clip behind plain A4 sheets in elementary school to write properly :P

instead of a bar you have coffee shops, and yes the similarities end there as you cant go up to a girl here and say hey, can i buy you coffee? but, everything works well in groups.

I was born here, raised here, left for uni and came back for work, one year into my employment i was dismally unimpressed with the routine of home-work-home-weekend-work-home etc. as a student here you lose all your connections when you leave as by the time you return most of all you knew are gone too. so i applied myself, i stepped out of my comfort zone, i pursued expat groups in all fields such as socialising (here), sports - tried my hand at rugby, gaelic football and finally running, entertainment - i do stand up comedy here occasionally.

i established a blog and a facebook page for my own running group and regularly get correspondence from people abroad making their way over, and we end up meeting, and one social circle adds another.

Hi

Hey I was wandering if you guys are still living there? I am flying to Kuwait in just over 2 weeks time from Manchester. Would be nice to get to know other English expats  in Kuwait :)

Kate

Hey Kate;
Welcome to Kuwait ..... have a safe trip/ flight :)
unfortunately i'm not an English Expat though...
no worries you will find a lot here and will have a good time too ;)

Guys I am from Kuwait snd sorry if I get you wrong but it is not hard to make friends here in Kuwait. I travel a lot and I do read people. You can tell if someone is willing to help or not. Try to approach people if you don't have a group but it is very easy to make new friends when you are in a group. Let me know if you need anything I can suggest some activities to meet friends

Hey Legacy!

Where about is there stand up comedy in Kuwait?

Cheers!
