More Internet Access in June

I just read an article, that they just completed laying down a new 80 Terabyte fiberoptic cable in Isla Verde. This will provide additional connectivity to the U.S., South America and the Caribbean.
Article here is you want to read it: http://www.eleconomistaamerica.com/tele … UytFNMMryp

I read something about that, too, ReyP.  Hopefully, it will bring better service :)

Yes I have heard about this as well. Here is the link to the provider. So far it seems it will be available in San Juan, Carolina, and Guaynabo. http://optico.criticalhub.com/

80 Terrabytes is a lot of Bytes per second, they will probably sell some of the capacity to other providers. Outside of the areas you mention they are not likely to have fiberoptic to the rest of towns, but likely other providers do and can offer at least alternate routes to the Internet and maybe just maybe more reliable service, LOL.
Fingers Crossed.

Telefónica, the owner of this new fiber optic line is not catering directly to the general in Puerto Rico anymore. They owned PRTC (PR telephone company) but sold it to Claro and Movistar, a cell phone company that was sold, too and is now called Open Mobile.
They will lease capacity in this new line to local providers - they are the ones that take care of local infrastructure.
Hopefully this additional capacity will lead to more high speed internet access on the island.
